FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What can I put in the general rubbish bin?
We accept almost all household rubbish including food scraps, packaging, paper, glass bottles, plastics, nappies etc.
Are there items I can't put in?
You can't put in rocks, soil, concrete, construction waste or hazardous goods – if you are unsure, just ask us.
What about garden rubbish?
We are happy to accept garden rubbish, but you do need to be careful of the overall weight of the bin.
Why is weight a problem?
Tip fees are charged by weight (not volume), therefore material with a lot of moisture in it (e.g. grass clippings) can cost up to double what normal household rubbish would cost.
What are the weight limits for each bin?
Half Size wheelie bin: 20kg's   /   Full Size wheelie bin: 40kg's. It is rare to exceed these limits, but if it happened we would discuss all the options with you.
How do I pay?
1. By Automatic Payment - always one collection in advance.
2. Annually in advance ( Direct Credit, Cheque or Credit Card ).
Do I need to put the wheelie bin out at the kerb?
Yes for Kerbside or Roadside service – put your bin out on the kerb side by 7.00am. We will provide a calendar for your fortnightly and 4 weekly collections. Rural From Property - Collection where bin located on your property.
Can I ring just when it is full?
No – These are regular collection services based on a minimum of 6 months service.
Is there a deposit?
No - No deposit or sign-up fee.
So, what do I do to get a bin?
Just call us and we’ll do it all on the phone, or you can do it on-line HERE it only takes a couple of minutes.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE AGREEMENT

JJR will use all reasonable endeavours to perform collections on the days agreed, but accepts no liability where such performance is hindered or prevented in any way.

Ownership of Bins:
The bin(s) remain(s) the property of JJR at all times and costs may be charged to the customer for lost / stolen bins. It is the responsibility of the customer to maintain the bin in a sanitary condition (odour etc) and ensure that the bin(s) is/are available for removal when this agreement terminates. Bins emptied at the kerbside must be taken back in by the customer after bin has been emptied and not left out over night.

Minimum Service Period:
6 months in order to cover the cost of delivery and removal of equipment. Should the service be cancelled prior to 6 months, JJR reserves the right to charge a removal and cleaning fee of $30.00. After the minimum period we require 2 weeks notice to arrange removal of our bin(s).

Kerbside (TGA / Te Puke / Katikati / Omokoroa Beach) and Rural Roadside Collections:
Please put bins out by 7.00 a.m. on collection day or the night before. When we have emptied the bin we will turn it around so you’ll know its empty. If we called at your address and the bin is not out, the normal collection charge will apply – if you don’t require a collection you need to contact us by 3 p.m. the working day before your collection so it can be taken off the list and then no charge will apply. In rural areas where there is no kerb – just by front gate or road edge is good.

Accepted Waste types for General Rubbish Bins:
We accept most household waste e.g. food scraps, packaging, paper, glass bottles, plastic containers, cans etc. We cannot accept hazardous waste, rocks, soil, concrete, construction waste, car parts, steel, ash etc.

Acceptable Recycling for Recycling Bins (available in TGA / Te Puke Areas Only):
Paper, Cardboard, Glass Bottles and Jars, Aluminum and Tin Cans, Plastic Containers – types 1 and 2 (Mainly milk containers, soft drink bottles and some janitorial bottles)

If in doubt please talk to us.

Garden Rubbish:
We can accept Garden Waste but the moisture content in this material can sometimes cause your bin to become overweight. Grass clippings are the major contributor to overweight bins. While we are happy to take them, we will need to adjust the price of your collection if the maximum weight is exceeded.

Weight Limits:
Tip fees are charged on weight and therefore it is important to set a reasonable weight limit for each bin size. Maximum weights are Full Size (240 Litre) Wheelie Bins 40kg’s and Half Size (120 Litre) Wheelie Bins 20kg’s.

These limits are generally only exceeded when garden waste or heavy items are added (bulky amounts of paper for example). Should your bin be overweight we will contact you to discuss a remedy for future collections, however you will incur an extra cost to cover the extra tip costs.

Extra Rubbish:
If you have extra rubbish, please call us prior and we will collect it – an extra charge will apply.

Prices:
Prices may vary with 30 days notice (‘Pay as you go customers’) or on renewal (‘Annual Pay in Advance customers’) due to Landfill, Fuel, RUC, Labour or other Operational cost increases.

Charges and Payment:
Our charges are based on providing collections on our regular collection schedule. If we call at your address and your wheelie bin is not out or we cannot access your bin, the normal collection cost will apply.

Payment needs to be at least one collection in advance for customers paying by Automatic Payment or within 10 days of “payment request” for customers paying annually in advance.

Collections will be placed on “stop-service’ if payment is not made as outlined above.
We reserve the right to charge for sending out accounts, bin recovery, debt recovery and the debt collection agency costs. If you are having financial difficulties, talk with us, so we can work out a solution with you.

Our payment policy reflects our desire to be rubbish collectors, not debt collectors.
